This project in particular has a couple of different themes. Women’s health and Guatemalan representation. i feel like in my recent works, they have been focused on representing the latino community and my experiences within that. Through this work, I center Guatemalan women—whose strength, beauty, and stories are rarely seen in the mainstream. While the second theme is the silence surrounding women’s health, especially the invisible pain of things like ovarian and breast cysts, which are too often dismissed or under-researched.

Our culture, our bodies, and our voices deserve space.
This is for the women who’ve been overlooked, unheard, and told to be quiet
